A day at a ration Shop..

Probably the title can explain it all. You just can't be wrong while guessing the theme of this blog. The episode started at around 10 am when our maid informed my mom about the short queue at ration shop and my mom set out to buy some wheat and sugar. She waited for an hour and a half in the queue while many "smart" people took hardly 5 to 10 minutes to finish their purchase. She did reach the counter and managed to get the bill for her items, but luck was unfortunately not on her side - power went off and the weighing machine went dead. She was asked to come back after an hour and she did go back and this time I accompanied her.
How long do you think weighing 5 kg sugar and 4kg wheat is going to take? The shop-keeper definitely feels that it's gonna take more that what you can ever over-quote. Just as we entered the shop we noticed that the power had resumed but the shop-keeper was taking his own sweet time, as sweet as 15 minutes, to get back to work. By the time he was ready truck load arrived.. That was the second bad omen of the day.
"Please come back later madam, we've to unload the truck"
"I've already got the bill, just finish this one, Please"
"It might take half an hour to unload"
We decided to wait and waited for almost an hour. Before they could unload the truck power went off again and the clock struck 1. Shop was "closed for lunch".
We came home and went back at 3:45 and there was no power in the shop. The shop-keeper was very kind enough to say "You can come tomorrow morning and collect the items; I'm not supposed to issue the items a day later; but i can give you this concession". Right in time two officers came to inspect the shop. After some initial hesitation we told them about the happenings of the day. "Power cut is not our problem, come back tomorrow and collect your items" is the final verdict we got. Now that we've complained I'm not sure if we'll get the items at all. With 200 bucks at stake, we came back home speechless.

Lot of unanswerable question did swirl in my mind but I simply don't anticipate any of them to be answered. I'm well aware that I'm paying all the taxes to a govt "of the sloths, to the sloths and for the sloths.."
